  3. CONTENTS
  4. Girlfriend is an artificial intelligence game.  When you finish installation,
  5. you will have a girl living inside your computer.  You will be able to talk to
  6. her and she will respond to your statements, questions, and commands.
  7.  
  8. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  9. You will need about 4 megabytes of hard disk space, 540K of RAM, a VGA monitor,
  10. and a 286 or above.  It runs under DOS and does not require Windows or a mouse.

  12. INSTALLATION
  13. Change your directory (CHDIR) to whatever drive the Girlfriend software is
  14. released on.  It will be either A: or B: if using a diskette, or some other
  15. drive letter if a CD-ROM.
  16.  
  17. Type INSTALL and follow the instructions to install first the Environment
  18. Kit, then each Personality Kit included in your release.  Use the Serial
  19. Number printed in your User's Guide or Installation Instructions.

  21. RUNNING THE PROGRAM
  22. When installation has completed normally, you can type "GF" to start the
  23. program.  She will ask your name and then you will see her face through the
  24. view window, and will start talking to you.

  26. Use the GF /? command to find out what other options (switches) are available
  27. for controlling voice output, sound, etc.
  28.  
  29. It is often helpful for first-time Girlfriend players to type "HELP" early
  30. in the conversation and read over the help file.  This will assist you in
  31. avoiding common mistakes, and give you ideas about what to say and how to say
  32. it.

  34. TROUBLESHOOTING
  35. Make sure you read over the HELP file before attempting conversations.  If you

  42. There are 3 WINDOWS wallpaper files in this release:

  44.         GFTeri-G.bmp            A "small" bitmap image of Girlfriend Teri,
  45.                                 rated "G".
  46.         GFTile-G.bmp            A "small" bitmap image of Girlfriend Teri and
  47.                                 Girlfriend Tracy, rated "G".
  48.         GFWall-G.bmp            A "large" bitmap image of Girlfriend Lisa,
  49.                                 Girlfriend Maria, Girlfriend Teri, and Girl-
  50.                                 friend Tracy, rated "G".

  52. To use any of these bitmap images as "Wallpaper" in Windows, do the following:
  53.         1.      Launch the File Manager from within Windows
  54.         2.      Click on the drive containing your WINDOWS directory
  55.         3.      Click on the WINDOWS directory
  56.         4.      Click on the diskette drive containing the wallpaper files
  57.         5.      Drag one or more of the files from the diskette to the drive
  58.                 containing the WINDOWS directory
  59.         6.      Launch the Control Panel
  60.         7.      Click on Wallpaper
  61.         8.      Use the scrollbar to find the desired wallpaper file
  62.         9.      If the file is "small", select TILE, otherwise select CENTER.
  63.         10.     Click on OK and watch your wallpaper appear!
